Embrace the Waves: Bluefins Mock Meet and Away Meet Week
Hello Bluefin Families,
This is Mauricio Escobar, your Bluefins team president. As we plunge into our first mock meet week, we have a whirlpool of activities planned for you.
The excitement kicks off with the mock meet on Thursday and culminates in our first away meet on Saturday (Arrive @ 6:30am). The anticipation is high, and we're thrilled to see our Bluefins making a splash! 💙🌊
First things first: we'd like your kids to join us for Thursday's practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for our coaches to record pre-meet times for the events and strategize for Saturday's meet. Nothing beats a good practice! 🏊
On Thursday evening, consider treating your family to a pizza dinner from DiMarcos. The combination of a fun-filled practice day and comfort food makes a perfect precursor to the big meet! 🍕 and Join us for Fun Thursday Activities starting at 6:30pm
Here are a few reminders as we approach the meet this Saturday: Check in at 6:30 am at the Cunningham pool.
- Pack swim essentials: Suit, team cap, goggles, towels, healthy snacks, and water.
- Cross-verify the bag after your child has packed, ensuring nothing essential is forgotten.
- Have your sharpie, camp chair, and On Deck App at the ready.
Start the meet day with a light, nourishing breakfast. As you arrive at the venue, be prepared for some chaos and a dash of nerves - remember, it's all part of the excitement of the swim meet!
After check-in, make sure your swimmer knows their Event/Heat/Lane and has connected with our coaches for warm-ups and race prep. Encourage them to speak with the coaches before and after all their races - it's crucial for their development and our team strategy.
Cheer on your swimmer, celebrate their effort and remember that every experience, even a challenging one, leads to growth.
After the meet, invite your child to talk about their experience and the feedback they received from the coaches. This dialogue is an excellent way for you to be a part of their swimming journey.
Make sure to savor these moments, as every "First Swim Meet" is a unique and memorable experience. Capture these milestones, and remember, you're a key part of this Bluefins journey.
Above all, keep your spirits high, cheer enthusiastically, dish out those high fives, and remind your child that every challenge today is a stepping stone to success tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the mock meet and the away meet. Let's make waves, Bluefins!
Best,
Mauricio Escobar
Bluefins Team President
